Before your consultation
How long does nose surgery take?
It depends on what is planned. Septoplasty alone is usually shorter, while septorhinoplasty and particularly revision surgery take longer. The exact time is discussed once the plan is made after examination.
Will packing be used, and does it hurt?
The older packing types that hurt on removal have largely been abandoned. Silicone splints with an airway through them are now generally preferred. Whether they are used, and for how long, depends on the operation and is confirmed beforehand.
When can I go back to work?
Most patients with desk-based work return after seven to ten days. Physically demanding work takes longer. This varies from person to person and is decided together at your review.
How long do swelling and bruising last?
Marked swelling and bruising are expected to settle largely within the first two weeks. Fine swelling at the tip takes months to resolve, and the nose usually reaches its final shape at around a year. This varies with skin thickness and with the operation performed.
Which language will the consultation be in?
Consultations can be held in Turkish or English.
